MEET MATT

Matt Fenn is a wellbeing, performance and leadership consultant. Drawing on insights from performance psychology, leadership development, and human behaviour to help organisations strengthen the foundations of sustainable high performance.

Through keynotes, workshops, and consulting engagements, his work focuses on how people think, operate, communicate, and perform through change — helping teams navigate challenging times, improve leadership, strengthen culture, and perform consistently without sacrificing wellbeing in the process.

What makes Matt’s perspective different is that it has been shaped not only through evidence-based and professional experience, but through years of testing the limits of human endurance. In 2021, he ran 654km in under a week – one kilometre for every New Zealander lost to suicide the year before – to raise awareness for mental health and challenge lack of media reporting around the issue.

Since then, he has completed a series of extreme endurance challenges, including running more than 3,400km up and down New Zealand in 61 days while fundraising for free kids counselling.

These experiences became real-world lessons in resilience, mindset, leadership, emotional control, recovery, and sustained performance under pressure. Today, Matt translates those lessons into practical, research-backed frameworks that help teams and leaders perform at a high level over the long term – going far beyond running and into the everyday.

Today, Matt brings that perspective into organisations across New Zealand and Australia. His work combines lived experience with research-backed frameworks from performance psychology and behavioural science, translating complex ideas into practical strategies teams can apply immediately.

Known for being engaging, grounded, and highly relatable, Matt creates environments where people feel comfortable having honest conversations about performance, burnout, leadership, culture, and growth – while still maintaining a strong focus on accountability and results.

With a long-term goal of connecting and speaking with 1 Million people in his life, he has now spoken to more than 90,000 people across New Zealand and Australia and continues to work with organisations looking to build healthier, more resilient, and higher-performing teams.
